BAPTISMS

Services: Text

YOU ARE SEALED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT IN BAPTISM AND MARKED AS CHRIST'S OWN FOR EVER.

Baptism in the Episcopal Church is a rite of passage, an initiation and adoption into the body of Christ, into the priesthood of all believers.  Baptism is a public service.  The Prayer Book lists the following days of the Church year as baptismal days of great liturgical and theological significance:  The Vigil of Easter, either Saturday after All Saints’ day, and on the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord (the first Sunday after the Epiphany); however, due to the many varied demands of family schedules, St. Margaret’s plans one baptism per month (except during Lent), at the 9:30 AM service.  We recommend that you plan with your relatives and godparents so that they can schedule their travel time to fit these dates ahead of time. Other times may be chosen if family travel time or other considerations are a major factor. We can also schedule private baptisms as needed and depending on the priests’ schedules.

For private baptisms, it is customary to offer an honorarium directly to the priest performing the baptism, generally in the range of $100-$200, but it is entirely a voluntary offering as is best for each family.

WEDDINGS

Services: Text

THE UNION OF TWO PEOPLE IN HEART, BODY, AND MIND IS INTENDED BY GOD FOR THEIR MUTUAL JOY.

We are pleased you are considering our church as the site for your upcoming wedding.  Many weddings are celebrated here each year, and we take great joy in these occasions. Weddings are not restricted to St. Margaret’s members, and are available to all who desire a sacred ceremony that emphasizes a Christian marriage.  Each service is joyful, reverent and memorable, and consistent with the ritual of the Episcopal Church Book of Common Prayer. We emphasize that we do not operate as a “rent-a-church”, but strive to establish a relationship with each couple because you are special in God’s eyes, and special to our community as well.

In addition, each couple will have a series of pre-marital counseling discussions with the clergy who will be performing your marriage.  Our volunteer Wedding Guild will work with you and the clergy to ensure that your wedding will be everything you hope it will be.

We do invite you to visit us for worship one or two Sundays so that you can get to know the “flavor” of our worship community, and that it is, in fact, the community in which you would like to be married and start your life together.   It will also allow you and the clergy an opportunity to get to know one another.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call the church office: 661-0110 or church@stmarg.org.
